*This review is based only on a quick look around during the event. This is my observation without asking management any questions about how they ran the event. I also didn't see how the venue looked at the event's end. We have made contact with one of the event's co-organizers (Elevate Events) to find out more about their practices and what they are willing to do. We look forward to finding out more details about their event approach, environmental sustainability and why they do what they do.
Why are we reviewing?
Because this is where we are coming from (previous blogs) ~
Lifted Skylines Event
What was it like?
Highs - Seeing the venue transformation (cranes and containers) and the eventual vibez of the party.
People took about an hour to warm up but then....never a dull moment.

Lows - Fireworks (Video @1:45). I wasn't ready. I was close to where they set them off and I was so confused.
First thought - Is this really necessary? My hair could catch a fire! (I'm a bit pyro-paranoid).
Second thought - Wait nah, there are other more flammable types of hair round here but still.....that wouldn't be pretty. The fireworks didn't last too long so I really don't have anything more to complain about.

Waste Level - Clean. This event was both a cooler fete and they included Mount Gay Black Barrel Rum and Heineken Beer in the $80 BDS/$40 US ticket cost. These "free" drinks were served in reusable daiquiri cups so this seemed to reduce the plastic cups thrown on the ground - Video @ 0:21. Actually, it looked like people brought their reusable cups from other events (e.g. Bacardi Untameable). How many different brands of reusable cups did you see in these videos?
Overall, I can't remember squirming from touching any garbage as I moved through the crowd.
After ploughing through post event pictures, I found no lurking garbage at the feet of patrons.
Potential reasons.....
~ People brought their own drinks in their coolers and took home their garbage.
~ There were enough garbage cans to accommodate patrons.
~ The people who attended this event generally are more aware of the waste in their
surroundings.
~ Promotional event staff who walked around serving drinks and collecting cans were on point
(number of them/efficiency).
****Side note - were these cans recycled? After all, Heineken aspires to be the world's greenest brewer with their Brewing for a Better Future strategy. How is this working out in the Caribbean?
Container Ambiance - Reusable security - Rusted Cars
Using 40/20 ft containers to enclose the party perimeter was a smart idea, this probably saved the event organizers money on security measures.
Q. When promoters rent venues - are there cases when they have to also pay to secure the area with fencing? At the least, these containers must have made the job of security easier.
The intentional smoke coming from old rusted out cars was interesting. I'm neutral on this - on one side it is good to see creativity in reusing the old cars but on the other side do we really need to add more smoke to our air? I would challenge them to rethink this smoke effect.
In contradiction to my last point - the smoke looked quite awesome so I understand why it was done but still - we should look into some other wow effects.
The Star of the Event - Lifted platform
Live Periscope Recorded of RocFresh DJ set.
The deejay platform was suspended from a crane. Wobbling from a crane actually..... the level of wobble correlated with how adventurous the deejays were and their weights obviously.
First thought - are they paying the deejays more to take on this risk? I really hope they secured and triple checked this throughout the night (there were at least 10 DJs swapping out two at time).
Second thought - I wonder what the deejays think about being so far above the crowd...hmm.
Third thought - This is half crazy but I like it - only if deejay's were paid more or their insurance covered any mishaps.
Expectations to Reality
From this Instagram post, I was real eager to see what Elevate Events/Boozecruise would do to transform this venue (Crane and Equipment Factory Yard) -
There was a zip line but as far as I saw, it wasn't for the use of patrons.
I was a bit disappointed I couldn't zip line but honestly let me not encourage that - the insurance and risk could be complicated.
Lifted Skylines was real good regardless.
The Elevate Events Management is doing something right - their events are heavily supported and their creativity in venue transformation may be why. Who knows - maybe the event and venue set up actually encouraged patrons not to litter extensively and to use their reusable cups.
What do you think?
