Chantel Selman - owner of Light Body Wholistic Clinic and the Organic Earth Juice Bar will be celebrating her 20th anniversary in the holistic medicine business next year.
She is dedicated to her mission, committed to her profession and works tirelessly towards reaching more people with her offering. Chantel always has some new idea that she is ready to try.
Although she has had to do so much to educate the public about the relevance of what she is doing - she still does it with the urgency which is required. She has engaged the public through teaching in secondary schools and youth groups, at countless exhibits and currently she is on Voice of Barbados Radio.
Perhaps it's the live food she eats or the connection she has with all things natural - either way she is out here doing the work with a passion and she is fully inspired by the Caribbean plants and flavours around her.
Below - Watch her featured video on Island Eats where she shows us a bit of what she does- veggie sun souse included.
Chantel started out in architecture and was then introduced to the field of iridology - it amazed her and she knew it was something she would pursue. She became a certified iridolgist and a qualified reiki master. Through the Light Body Wholistic Clinic, she advises clients on cleanses while preparing convenient herbal treatments and tinctures for almost every ailment from diabetes to Chick-V.
However, although iridology identifies ailments/health issues - she wanted to do more. Chantel wanted to help her clients figure out what they could do to maintain their health with daily food choices. This is how the Organic Earth Juice Bar came to be. Up until a few years ago she operated the clinic and juice bar in separate units in the Pelican Village Complex in Bridgetown, Barbados. Now both businesses are operate in the same business space.

The quote "Let food be your medicine" guides what she prepares as an experienced raw food chef and holistic practioner. Remember that "always ready to try a new idea" Chantel I told you about? Well this is reflected in both the wide variety of dishes she can prepare and also in the methods she uses to get the food to you.
At Organic Earth Juice Bar - she prepares all kinds of Caribbean designed raw food dishes - sun souse, tropical wraps, rasta pasta, cou cou and mushroom stew, curried raw plantain, pizza, coconut cauliflower wild rice, champion soup and more.
She also creates a multitude of sweet treats (e.g. sour sop/jack fruit ice-cream, jamoon jelly donuts, raw black fruit cake, mango cheezecake, spirulina/tumeric chocolates) and breakfast raw cereals and shakes (e.g. NRG, Manhood, Brain Boost, Kansir Kare, Rawnola) along with kombucha, kefir and sour kraut.
Chantel is constantly experimenting with ways to reach new audiences while learning from engaging her existing customers/clients. She provides cleanse packages which include the fresh juices, nut mylks and herbs which she recommends. She also provides Sun Boxes which are a week's worth of raw food.
Personal #guideonside note from experience. This Sun Box is a real "treat yo self" ting. Let me tell you! This was heaven because it includes desserts AND juices as well. There are dishes that you can only get in the Sun Box because it is just that special.
She also literally practices what she preaches when it comes to her connection between the environment and our health. Organic Earth Juice Bar/Light Body Wholistic Clinic has been practicing environmental sustainability in all they do - from composting organic waste and using compostable Vegware, to the plants she keeps on her green roof and deck.
Her business was certified as a green business in 2015 by the Green Business Barbados Program (FCT) and her products will also be featured in the Better Caribbean Program's Exhibit at the Green Festival in Washington, DC (May 6 - 8, 2016).
