We can not possibly answer this question with one blog, but for now here's a peak into 7 more of the businesses which are participating in our Better Caribbean Green Festival Exhibit.

What I found interesting about her story? This business will celebrate their 20th anniversary and she is still always opened to finding news ways to reach people with her offering. She is also on a mission to use solar in her operations because of the high electricity costs of using dehydrators. These costs have discontinued her production of kale chips and have limited her production of other raw food snacks.

What I found interesting about her story – The owner of this business has a background in information technology and agriculture. She first explored jewelry making before developing her green banana products. Her pasta is made in a 5 step process and she is exploring ways to make this process more energy-efficient and productive through the equipment she uses. Currently she is only able to make 5 bags of Green Banana pasta at a time.

Earth Mother Botanicals Ltd.

Sustainability Features – Plant-based products, locally or regionally sourced ingredients. Certain botanical ingredients are grown on site and where possible sourced from within a 1 mile radius in local community. Currently exploring how to reduce their plastic packaging footprint.

What I found interesting about their story – This business was started after one of the founders developed a herbal solution for lice as she was affectionately known at the “Earth Mother”. Since then they have continued to expand their product line and have sold their products throughout the Caribbean.

Sustainability Features – Coconuts are husked on site and coconut oil is made by locally made press locally made.

What I found interesting about their story – This business owner was one of the first businesses to retail coconut flour in Barbados but on seeking her certification she was told that her flour should be labelled at coconut flakes. She creates a variety of products from coconut and most recently she has developed a coconut butter.
