Green Festival Presentation - But Why Go All the Way Up to D.C.?

All we do in the Better Caribbean Program is focused on this question -

What types of technology and products do we need for a Better Caribbean? Are we wasting money and time on solutions that will only cost us more in the future?

Why go all the way up there (Green Festival D.C.) to represent what a Better Caribbean could look like?

Because we have a problem.....we in the Caribbean value products/technology from outside of the Caribbean region more than we do locally created goods. Surprised? Upset? Oh well. We are trying to change that.

Because Green Banana Flour is a thing....a very valuable thing for our health and as an example of how we can use a crop which sometimes goes to waste. Sometimes validation from outside of the region sharpens our recognition of our value.

Because a $5 cardboard carton for sustainable packaging is a thing.....a thing that is too costly. Too costly if we really want to move towards sustainability and away from creating a styrofoam plastic kingdom on our islands. Too costly if you makers of sustainable packaging really want your products to transform local economies and environments for the better.

Because the voice and buying power of the U.S. visitor matters to us.

We are trying to build a cooperative ecosystem of businesses working towards a Better Caribbean.
